Warwick Lightfoot - Friend of the Pepper Pot ClubThe Pepper Pot Club was started as a day centre and luncheon club for elderly people from the Caribbean 25 years ago. Warwick has been an friend of the Pepper Pot Club for many years. As a London councillor for over 20 years he specialised in social services. As chairman and cabinet member for social services he helped to build, what the Audit Commission and the Social Services Inspectorate regarded as one of the country's best social services departments. Warwick has campaigned for years for better community care for older people. The Pepper Pot Club is an excellent example of what voluntary organisations and local councils can achieve when they work together. |
